Bulgaria with new extraordinary debt of 150 million euros

Despite Bulgaria’s current budget surplus, the Treasury Department has held two extraordinary auctions for the sale of 10.5 and 20-year government securities. Bonds with maturity of 2029 and an annual interest rate of 0.5% cost over EUR 100 million, and those with maturity of 2039 and an annual interest rate of 1.5% cost over EUR 50 million. Due to the high buyers’ interest record low yield was achieved on the 10.5-year papers. The new issue of 20-year bonds is the longest one issued on the domestic market. For the last time, the Treasury held an auction of debt in early 2018. But it failed because of the higher profitability required. According to financiers, the reason for the extraordinary debt is the expected deal for the F-16 aircraft, which Sofia has pay at the end of the year 2019.
