An exhibition of photographs, documents, arms and uniforms of Bulgarian Navy officers opened at the National Museum of History. The exposition is arranged on the occasion of the 140th anniversary since the inauguration of the Bulgarian Naval Fleet. An interesting accent among the exhibits is a rare commemorative medal forged back in 1917 – a year after Bulgaria created its own submarine navy and became the 10th country in the world to have one! On the face of the medal we see a depiction of King Ferdinand, while on the reverse side there is a bas-relief of the pf the first submarine of the Bulgarian fleet – “Podvodnik18”. The machine was constructed under the name “UB – 8” in 1914-1915 in Kiel, Germany by the Germaniawerft shipbuilding plants.  Photos: historymuseum.org

Today, the first of yet another series of gratuitous parking places for bicycles was presented to the public. It is installed at Vitosha Boulevard, in the section approaching South Park. As of this week, the launching begins of 157 new parking sections in the central part of the capital city, for bicycles, mopeds and micro-scooters. This measure taken on the part of the municipality comes to answer the interest of citizens towards alternative transport devices, different from cars and public transport lines.  Photo: BGNES
