During the second quarter of 2019, over 1,219 million Bulgarian citizens traveled for the purpose of tourism. The country’s population is a little less than 7 million.
Most of them - 75.7% - traveled only inside the country, 19.1% - only abroad, and 5.2% traveled inside Bulgaria as well as to other countries. Compared to the same quarter of 2018 the number of people over 15 who have traveled has gone up by 12.4%, the National Statistical Institute says. During the second quarter of 2019 the average per capita travel costs for every private trip of persons over the age of 15 amounted to 101 euro for the country and 337 euro for travels abroad.
