A radio show that brightens up life

“We believe that creating an environment resembling the home environment or that of a children’s club would have a very positive effect on the young patients at medical establishments,” say our colleagues from the Bulgarian National Radio’s music show Casta Diva.

To help make this happen, every month they hand out books to children’s wards at different hospitals in Sofia, and the initiative has gradually been joined by journalists from other BNR departments.

Not long ago their idea went international. During the Bartók Plus summer opera festival in Miskolc, Hungary, music journalists from Bulgaria, Croatia, Italy and the Netherlands gifted toys to the children’s ward of the county hospital in the town. Every one of them had carefully chosen toys typical of their country, suitable for children of different ages.
