Record number of foreigners’ visits to Bulgaria in August 2019

The number of foreign visitors to Bulgaria rose by 3.8 percent in August compared to a year earlier. National statistics showed that the historical record set last year, when 2.240 million foreign visitors came to Bulgaria, has been broken. In August 2019, the total number reached 2.325 million. The number of foreign visitors for holiday and excursion purposes has also increased by 7.6% on an annual basis. Two-thirds of foreigners came from EU countries. Visits by Romanian citizens increased by 30.9%, while the number of tourists from the United Kingdom rose by 17.8% and the number of guests from Spain rose by 15.8%. The biggest drop was reported among tourists from Germany - 12.7%.
