The Transport Ministers of Bulgaria and Greece Rosen Zhelyazkov and Kostas Karamanlis stated their support for continuing the project for a Thessaloniki-Kavala-Alexandroupolis-Burgas-Varna-Ruse railway connection.

Bulgaria is working actively for improving connectivity with neighbouring countries, Minister Zhelyazkov said. The principal projects are for the modernization of the rail and road link with Serbia and the rail link with North Macedonia. Talks with Romania continue for the construction of another bridge over the River Danube. Minister Zhelyazkov also raised the question of reducing the time needed for crossing at border check points in the region and called for the implementation of a new generation of services for accelerated transport procedures.
