Bulgarian education will now have a proper guide on its long-term reforms that are forthcoming, in order for young people to be better oriented, regarding career opportunities. Thus those will be more easily adapted to the dynamics of economic life in this country. The future choice of young people may depend on the forecasts for the most desired professions.

There is a project of the ministry of labor and social policy, funded under the Human Resources Development Operational Programme and named Forecasting of Necessities from Labor Force till 2020. The annual surveys, looking for workers with certain skills for the needs of business will allow the making of mid- and long-term forecasts. The project provides the creation of a National Qualification Barometer, along with a website with accessible information on the level of employment in the different sectors and professions for everyone – students, unemployed and employed people. Thus Kamen, for instance, will be able to plan his future by selecting education and profession that will allow him to find a better job more quickly. In other words, he will have the chance to manage his life better. Having this information available, Emilia will be able to go for some additional training and to find herself a job, wherever such experts are needed.

“If we have information on the business’ necessities in a mid- and long-term perspective, we will be able to guide much better programs for professional training,” words of Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Policy Deyana Kostadinova. “This is a good background and reforms in the educational sphere can be planned according to it. We will adapt high school and university programs in a manner that will allow us to create experts in those sectors that are most wanted on the labor market. The long-term goal of this project is achieving of a better labor productivity, the creation of sustainable employment, hence the reaching of economic growth.”

According to Mrs. Elka Dimitrova from the Policy on the Labor Market Directorate with the social ministry, a preliminary research has shown that the better education will be a key factor that will help people find a job more quickly. Business will need more and more people with high school or university education at the expense of less qualified employees. The share of highly qualified experts in the structure of economy will continue to grow. The number of people, employed in different sectors reveals the trends and changes in this country’s economic development. Employment in the sectors of agriculture, forestry and fisheries will shrink almost twofold, research data shows. The need of working hand in mining companies, the processing industry and construction business is reducing despite the existing potential for development. The future belongs to the sector of services. Commerce, transport, hotel and restaurant business etc. – those are the services, where new jobs will be open, just like in all developed countries. More and more people will be employed in the sphere of information technologies and communications. Experts from the spheres of finances and insurances, along with those, employed in the sphere of education and also analysis specialists may also rely on a promising future. On the other hand, the number of those, working in the administration will be reduced. There will be fewer craftsmen, but those, who work something, not requiring manual skills may face the forthcoming years with a smile.
