Young people and business companies in Bulgaria will meet for a 9th year in a row within the traditional national forum “Careers 2010 – Good Carrier, Good Life”. The event’s main goal is a chance to be given to students and young experts to find their employability, as well as helping Bulgarian employers find appropriate and promising job applicants. The web site Job Tiger organizes the event with the traditional support of Nestle Bulgaria. The “Careers 2010” forum will take place in Sofia on March 15th and 16th at the National Palace of Culture. It will also be held through March and April in other 6  Bulgarian cities – Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Russe, Svishtov, Plovdiv and Burgas. Despite the global economic crisis the interest of Bulgarian companies in the event is just as high as in previous years. Around 70 companies have declared their participation at the forum in Sofia. Their representatives will have the chance to meet and talk to intern program candidates and job applicants at specially built stands. The companies will also have the possibility for a first time this year to make their own presentations.

“The increased interest of production companies this year should be pointed out – Mr Svetlozar Petrov, manager of Job Tiger comments. – It looks like business and especially production business thinks of its employees’ development and the future of the company even through the crisis. However, the number of consulting companies registered for participation has decreased. The students head for what responds to their skills and understandings. The family traditions and current jobs in vogue also determine the expectations of the young. There were more financial and IT positions offered in 2002 and 2003 at the starting editions of the forum. The number of engineering positions offered became equal to the others around 2005, i. e. the engineering positions found their place. This proportion was kept during the last few years.”

A total of 110 000 students have visited the “Careers 2010” forum through the years. Over 18 000 Bulgarian young people used the opportunities, offered by the forum in 2009. Following the tradition, the organizers have provided meetings with the students during the days before the official opening of the forum, where the young people will have the chance to receive some useful advice for their more successful presentation at the jobs interviews. Statistics says that till now one of each six applicants have succeeded in finding a job or starting a probation period and 40% to 60% of them remain in the company for good.
