Young Bulgarian singers

Author: Elenq Tzvetkova
There are a number of young Bulgarian singers working in different music genres these days. In this feature we are to present you some of the young performers. We start with Petar Bonev and his song entitled “Next to Me.”
“Music has always been a part of my life,” Petar Bonev says. He worked together with popular singer Svetla Ivanova before starting a solo project.

“My work with Svetla Ivanova during the past 7 years gave me much experience on stage. We both decided that I needed a song of my own. It is a song from the first album of Svetla but the arrangement this time was done by Pop Corn. Vasil Stefanov made the video to the song. I am happy with the result and I will continue working. I have already recorded two songs that will be released by the end of the year. It is difficult for a young musician to achieve success but I think that with talent and hard work it can be done. I had my first concert on May 17th and I plan to make a number of appearances in music clubs across the country in the autumn,” he says.

Rachel Row is the author of a number of songs performed by singers like Maria Ilieva, Ruth Koleva and others. Her real name is Rahel-Lilia Todorova and she is the daughter of renowned Bulgarian jazz singer Kamelia Todorova. Rachel appeared on the stage of Studio 1 of the BNR some years ago in a series of concerts, entitled “New voices of Bulgarian pop music.” We offer you a recording of the young singer, made during the Jazz Festival in Bansko in 2006.
Rachel Row is currently recording songs to include in her debut album. She has even recorded a duet song with her mother, which they promised to present during Bansko Jazz Festival 2012. Next you are going to hear the song “Part of Me” with music and lyrics by Rachel Row. The song is performed by Krista. It has won the award of this year’s edition of the Golden Spring music contest of the Bulgarian National Radio and it will participate in the Eurosonic Festival in the Netherlands in 2013.

Many young musicians want to appear in TV music contests as they hope to gain popularity. After the first season of the X Factor show in Bulgaria, the names of several young singers emerged on the local stage. The youngest among them is 15-year-old Bogomil Bonev. He is now ready with his first song, created by an international team. We offer you the song Stop by Bogomil

Among the X factor finalists there was a duet of two talented singers – Angel and Moisei. They placed 4th in the contest and these days they even have a hit song together with Bulgarian hip hop artist Krisko. “We are happy to create songs that young people like and that become summer hits,” the two say.
