Debut album of Bellcanto Duet

Bellcanto is the name of a project joining the talent of pop singer Petko Petkov and the voice of opera singer Rumen Doikov. Let’s listen to the song “Granada,” performed by the duet.

Petko Petkov is a renowned Bulgarian singer, who was a soloist of the popular band Streetcar №5, created in 1980. Rumen Doikov is a Bulgarian tenor with a huge repertoire. Mr. Doikov has been a soloist of the Sofia Opera since 1978. Petko Petkov told us more about the Bellcanto project.
“This was one of my dreams. I have always dreamt of performing the songs my mother used to sing to me. I was in love with these songs. These are famous Italian songs and arias. We named our duet Bellcanto, just like the album itself. We have more material that could be recorded and maybe we are to release a second part to the album by the end of the year. The songs included in the album are appropriate for any age.”

This programme features another song from the Bellcanto project, entitled Miserere. Music of the song was written by Italian pop star Zucchero.

This is not the first project of pop singer Petko Petkov in which he sings together with opera singers. A few years ago he staged a few concerts together with Stefka Mineva and the Big Band of the Bulgarian National Radio. The result was another album released on the market.

Music arrangement for the new album of Petko Petkov was done by Konstantin Tsekov and Boris Chakarov. This music edition ends with a couple more songs from “Bellcanto.”
