On February 28th Bulgaria is to determine the song that will represent the country at the prestigious competition “Eurovision” 2010 in the Norwegian capital city of Oslo. The Bulgarian National TV presented the five selected songs in a one-hour concert, broadcast on February 7th. The home rules for choosing the Bulgarian song had been changed this year and so pop singer Miro had been determined as the only performer. He impressed the audience with his musical and artistic skills at the presentation of the five different songs, created by various composers, poets and arrangers.
The first composition was in 7/8 folklore compound meter and was created by the well-known team of Yassen Kozev and Kroum Georgiev. “Eagle” had been written in English especially for Miro. The authors themselves have determined “Eagle” as a “Euro dance hit on Bulgarian motifs”. Their goal is the Bulgarians to show their traditions and modernity at this unique music “forum of the European family”.

The second Bulgarian candidate for the Eurovision 2010 competition was the rock ballad “My Glance at You”, performed by the popular rock band “D 2”. Pop singer Miro sang on stage, accompanied by the guitars of Mitko Karnev and Alexander Obretenov from the band. The musicians said that the song had not been written especially for the contest, but they hoped to touch the hearts of the audience.

The next song is a foreign one, with the participation of Petar Panov, who is a music manager living in Sweden. The “Twist&Tango” song has been written together with Thomas Thornholm, Dan Attlerud and Michael Klaus. Petar has called the song’s authors “Eurovision’s vets”. They participate at the contest every year and hope that their Swedish Latin song will be highly appreciated by the Bulgarian audience.

A team has been formed for the first time by professionals from the Bulgarian stage, united by the “Bulgarian song at Eurovision” cause. These are composer prof. Nayden Andreev and poets Ivan Tenev and Alexander Petrov. The music for the song, called “Stay” was born first and then the text. There is a Bulgarian hue in it – the sound of the shepherd’s pipe.

The authors of the songs for the “Bulgarian Song at the Eurovision” contest had been kept in secret till the last moment by the managers from the National TV. They all came as a pleasant surprise for the audience, which applauded mostly the last composer… Miroslav Kostadinov – pop singer Miro himself. His own song “You are an angel” is written on lyrics by Misho Mihailov and arranged by Georgi Andreev. Mr. Gordon Davis, a Grammy-winner is also part of the team. “Miro is an inspiration to us, he makes us better persons” – his colleagues say.
Miro sang the five semi-final songs with all his heart. The Bulgarian audience has now three weeks to listen to the songs and to vote on the final on February 28th. The Bulgarian National TV will broadcast a live show, during which the spectators will determine the winning song that will represent Bulgaria in Oslo 2010.
The lot said that Miro was going to sing on May 27th, which would be the second evening of the semi-final concerts. The Bulgarian singer will compete with his colleagues from Romania, Turkey, Switzerland, Denmark etc. A total of 39 countries will participate at Eurovision 2010. Five of them – Great Britain, Germany, France, Spain and the host – Norway, go to the final automatically.
