Bulgarian National Radio Director General, Valeri Todorov, participates in electronic media law debate

The Director General of the Bulgarian National Radio, Valeri Todorov, has said that the new law concerning electronic media in Bulgaria must equally protect the interests of social and private media in the country. Mr. Todorov took part in a public debate over the preparation of a new law, which is to regulate the activities of electronic media. Members of a working group, established at the initiative of Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, as well as media officials, and non-governmental organisations, all took part in the discussions, which will continue by Friday. According to Mr. Todorov, the new law must fully encompass all types of audiovisual media service. The BNR Director also thinks that the process of establishment of a new social fund to finance social media must be accelerated. The new law must also envisage liberalization of the advertising sphere in the radio.
