PM Boyko Borissov presents in parliament Bulgarian priorities report during EU Belgian Presidency

The new EU strategy for growth and employment more or less defines Bulgaria’s future development, because it identifies the priorities and objectives of the European economy by 2020, Bulgarian PM Boyko Borissov said in parliament. He presented to MPs a report on this country’s priorities during the EU Belgian Presidency over the second half of 2010. Effective EU funds absorption is a top priority. There has been improvement in the process under all EU programmes, and at 31 August the absorbed amount ran to EUR 94,650 million, Boyko Borissov said. Energy, agriculture and regional policy are other Bulgarian priorities during Belgium’s EU Presidency. Boyko Borissov pointed out that the government planned a 2011 budget deficit up to 2.5%, contracting to 1.5% in 2012 and further to 1% in 2013. With regard to the European Commission recommendations under the Cooperation and Verification Mechanism the government has endorsed a schedule with urgent measures in justice reform, and in combating corruption and organized crime in the bracket October-December 2010, the PM said.
