Spaska Mitrova's Case brought to European Parliament 

Bulgarian MEPs will hold a meeting with the EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood, Štefan Füle, regarding Spaska Mitrova's case, the press service of the EP has announced. At the meeting, Bulgarian MEPs intend to discuss violations of civil rights of people with Bulgarian self-awareness by the authorities in Macedonia. The MEPs will bring to the attention of Commissioner Füle cases of violations of the Copenhagen criteria in a country that aspires for EU membership.
On October 8, last year, Spaska Mitrova, who holds a Bulgarian passport but lives in Macedonia, was released from jail in Skopje where she had to serve a three-month sentence over charges of not allowing hr husband, who is a Serbian national, to see their two-year-old daughter.
In mid-December last year, a new trial was started against Spasova in Macedonia. This time Spasova was charged with not allowing her husband to see their daughter although the child was not with her at the time and she has not seen her after her release from prison.
On March 11, the Court in the Macedonian town of Gevgeli ruled to give custody rights to the father of 3-year-old Suzanna.
