Evelin Banev to be extradited to Italy

The Sofia Appellate Court confirmed the demand for extradition to Italy of Evelin Banev, a.k.a Brendo. Banev was arrested in a joint police operation in Bulgaria and Italy in mid-May 2012. A total of 30 people were captured then, half of those Bulgarians. Brendo has faced court for organizing a criminal gang with the purpose of laundering of EUR 11.1 mln., earned in drug trafficking. The Bulgarian group, headed by Banev used to import 40 tones of cocaine annually in Italy. The group also acted on the territories of Switzerland, Austria and Germany. 6 of the arrested persons have been extradited so far to Italy.
