Bulgaria in a report of the UN Supreme Commissariat for Refugees 

In 2011 Bulgaria has received 890 applications for protection, the highest number of them being again from Iraq (344), followed by Afghanistan (92), Syria (85) and people of no citizenship (68). During the same period ten refugees have been acknowledged. Furthermore this country has granted humanitarian status to 182 persons. The figures are taken from a report of the UN Supreme Commissariat for Refugees on global tendencies in 2011. The document reads that worldwide as many as 42.5 million people have met the end of 2011 either as refugees or as internally displaced or in a process of seeking asylum. The biggest sources of refugees are Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, Sudan and Congo.
