A new archeological find in Burgas

Archeologists digging at Sarafovo suburb of the Black Sea City of Burgas unearthed an early Christian church from the 4-6 century, local municipal authorities have announced. The church is richly decorated with 5-colors mosaics, wall paintings and portraits of saints and inscriptions in Greek. In February a storm opened up access near Sarafovo walls from Roman times and the remains of a well-constructed sewerage system. The diggings are conducted within the framework of a project entitled “Via Pontica”, covering 10 archeological sites along the Southern Black Sea coast of Bulgaria.
