Interior Ministry restrains activity of 660 criminal groups

The main task of the Interior Ministry is to focus its attention over the heaviest part of the organized crime, said Minister Tsvetan Tsvetanov in the National Assembly, where he presented a report about the work of his department, covering the period 2009-2012. The ministry managed to restrain the activity of 660 criminal groups and completed some 300 major campaigns for the period. Asked to comment on the draft report of the EC, which was previously announced by the media, he said that for a first time since 2009 Bulgaria has managed to combat organized crime in an effective manner and that he accepts the evaluation mechanism as a form of partnership between Bulgaria and the EC.
