Bulgaria's Foreign Ministry expresses disillusionment with sentence on Russian punk band

Bulgarian Foreign Affairs Ministry spokeswoman Vesela Cherneva has expressed her disillusionment with the unfair sentence on the members of the Russian punk group Pussy Riot- Maria Alyokhina, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Yekaterina Samutsevich. The girls were sentenced by a court in Moscow to 2 years in prison on hooliganism charges after screaming “Mother Mary please drive Putin away” in a protest act in February inside Christ Savior Cathedral. This can not be a reason for imprisonment, because freedom of speech is a basic value in every democratic society, said Vesela Cherneva.
