Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov won 6:3, 6:3, 6:1 against Monaco tennis player Benjamin Balleret, which qualified Bulgaria for the next round of the Davis Cup. In the doubles match Grigor Dimitrov and Tzvetan Mihov defeated the team of Monaco Benjamin Balleret / Guillaume Couillard. In the last match Tzvetan Mihov lost 6:1, 6:4 to Thomas Oger and the final result became 3-2. In the next round the Bulgarian tennis players will face the team of Slovenia as guests on July 9-11.

Bulgarian sumo wrestlers were very successful at the Balkan tournament in Belgrade. The Bulgarians won 4 gold, two silver, and two bronze medals. President of the Bulgarian Sumo Federation, Petar Stoyanov, won in the absolute category, while in the same category 17-year-old Bulgarian wrestler Pavlin Dimitrov won the bronze medal. European vice champion Mihail Iliev won the gold in the 115 kg category. In the category above 115 kg, two Bulgarian wrestlers reached the final as Hristo Hristov won against Ivan Kachakov, while Dimitar Dimitrov won the bronze medal. In the women’s finals European vice champion Anna Metodieva won against another Bulgarian wrestler, Maria Georgieva.

In their first game for 2010, the football team of Bulgaria lost 0:2 against Poland. The hosts showed they were the better team and Jakub Blaszczykowski scored in the 42nd minute of the match. In the second half Lewandowski scored after Ivan Ivanov made a mistake in the 61st minute. The game was the last match for goalkeeper Dimitar Ivankov in the national team of Bulgaria.

The current leader in the Bulgarian Football Championship, Litex, lost 1:4 as guests to Pirin. That is how Litex has only three points more than the team of CSKA. The red team did not manage to score against the team of Beroe in the town of Stara Zagora. The team of Locomotive Sofia is one point behind CSKA, after they crushed 5:1 the team of Sportist Svoge.

The basketball players of Levski won against Steaua Turabo in the second group of the Balkan League with 92:61. This was the eight victory of Levski in the group. At the quarterfinals Levski will face the team of Rilski Sportist from the Bulgarian town of Samokov. The third Bulgarian team that qualified for the quarterfinals of the Blakan League, Euroins Black Sea, which won 77:71 against Lovcen Montenegro, will face the Serbian team of OKK Belgrade.

The current best Bulgarian competitor in rhythmic gymnastics, Silvia Miteva won a bronze medal in the hoop discipline in the World Cup tournament in town of Debrecen, Hungary. Olympic and world champion Evgenia Kaneva from Russia won the gold in all disciplines.
