Bulgarian oarsman Miroslav Kirchev has won B final in 1000 meters one – seat kayak discipline at the European Championship in Zagreb.

The Bulgarian National Volleyball team has lost against Germany by 3 games to 1 in a Group D game, played in Guimaraes, Portugal. The game began without domination from any side, but later the German squad managed to play better in attack, thus winning the game. Tsvetan Sokolov became the top-scorer of the Bulgarian team with 33 points. Bulgaria still remains second in the group with 16 points after 6 wins and 3 defeats in the tournament. Germany has also kept its first place in the tournament with a total score of 22 points.

Bulgarian oarsman Miroslav Kirchev has won B final in 1000 meters one – seat kayak discipline at the European Championship in Zagreb. Kirchev stopped the clock at 3:31:52 minutes and remained 10th in the final ranking. Max Hoff from Germany has easily won the title. Kirchev has already won Olympic quota for London 2012 and Bulgaria is looking forward to his performance at the Games. In the women series of the tournament Berenike Faldum and Daniela Nedeva finished fourth at the 1000 meters race, only 3 seconds away from the bronze medals.

Bulgarian top tennis players Grigor Dimitrov and Tsvetana Pironkova start their performance at the prestigious Wimbledon tournament this week. On Monday Pironkova faces Vesna Dolonts from Serbia, ranked 206th in the world rank-list. Grigor Dimotrov begins his performance on Tuesday against Kevin Anderson from South Africa. Last week Pironkova reached the quarterfinals in the grass tournament in Eastbourne( England), where she was defeated in 2 sets by Tamira Paszek from Austria.

Yavor Christov has brought another Olympic quota for Bulgaria in the archery contest discipline. Hristov has managed to do this by reaching the semifinals at the World cup in Ogden, USA. He is the only Bulgarian in this sport to participate for the second time on Olympic games. His first performance at the Olympics was in 2004 in Athens. Then he finished 28th in the ranking. So far this has been the top performance of a Bulgarian archer at the Olympics.

The football team CSKA Sofia has lost by 2:1 from Torpedo(Moscow) its first friendly game this summer. CSKA started the game with its second team and the Russian took the lead in the 16th minute. Then Bulgarian Hristo Yanev scored the only goal for CSKA in the 29th minute. Later on, the team star Junior Moraes took part in the game, but could not help the team avoid the defeat. The Bulgarian Footballer Georgi Kakalov who is at a trial period in Torpedo also took part in the game and scored the winner for the Russian side.

Bulgarian chess-master Antoaneta Stefanova has left the Women Chess Grand Prix Tournament in the Russian city of Kazan. In the final 11th round of the tournament Stephanova drew with Viktoria Chmilite from Lithuania. The Bulgarian player finished 9th in the ranking with 4.5 points after 1 win, 7 draws and 3 defeats.
