Bulgarian snowboarder Alexandra Zhekova placed second in the snowboardcross discipline at the 15th edition of the winter X Games in Aspen (USA). Dominique Maltais from Canada won the race, while Olympic champion Maelle Ricker placed third. This year too the snowboardcross run offered huge jumps to the joy of the spectators. This has been the third participation of Alexandra Zhekova in the Winter X Games as she placed 5th in the last two editions of the extreme competition.

Bulgarian Nia Dimitrova won the gold medal in the 7.5 km sprint at the European biathlon championship in Osrable (Slovakia). 18-year-old Dimitrova did not miss a single target and won the race in the age group below 21. Among the men Vladimir Iliev placed 6th, while Krassimir Anev remained 14th in the 10 km event. Iliev shot down all 10 targets and remained 38.4 seconds behind winner Alexei Volkov from Russia. Two more Bulgarians took part in the competition. Miroslav Kenanov placed 26th, while Martin Bogdanov finished 49th.

Best Bulgarian ski jumper Vladimir Zografski placed 37th in the world cup round which took place in Sapporo, Japan. Zografski gained 65.7 points and could not qualify for the second round. Daiki Ito became winner in the competition with a result of 243.7 points. Kamil Stoh from Poland remained second while Andreas Kofler from Austria placed third. Zografski is currently 42nd in the world cup chart with 48 points.

Five-time world wrestling champion Stanka Zlateva won the gold medal in the 72 kg category at the Ivan Yarigin tournament in Russia. At the final Zlateva won against Burma Ochirbat from Mongolia. Before that the Bulgarian won against Elmira Sidyakova from Kazakhstan and Alena Starodubtseva from Russia. This has been the first title of Zlateva since the beginning of the year.

Young Bulgarian shooter Anton Rizov won a gold medal at the international shooting tournament in Munich, Germany. Rizov gained a result of 700.7 points, which brought him the title. Among the women Antoaneta Boneva placed 6th, while Maria Grozdeva was 15th.

Bulgarian swimmer Ekaterina Avramova won 4 medals at the international tournament in Barcelona. During the competition Avramova set a new national record at the 200 m backstroke event. Her time was 2:11,13 min. which was nearly 2 seconds less than the previous record. In Barcelona Avramova placed first also at the 100 m backstroke event and grabbed 2 silver medals at the relay events.
