The two sides specifically stressed at the ceremony the importance of the agreement for both countries and that it was an expression of extending the political relations. The first museum of Roma culture opened its door in Belgrade. The museum's collection features over 100 documents, including the oldest text written in the Roma language, which was published in 1537 in England, and an original copy of the first book about Roma which was published in Serbia in 1803.

”We are working on improving the position of the Roma minority in Belgrade. It is important to change the image of Roma, who are integral to Serbia and Belgrade and whose contribution to our culture and history is enormous. The museum is the right way to show it,” Belgrade mayor Dragan Djilas said during the opening ceremony. He added that city representatives are obliged to fight discrimination and to make sure more Roma children go to school. In an interview the creator of the exhibition, World Roma Parliament member Dragoljub Ackovic, said the museum is the best way to overcome prejudices against Roma in Serbia.

"The museum will be the place for overcoming prejudice, because when you say that Roma people do not have their own language and then see in the museum some 20 dictionaries, grammars, then you realise that Roma people actually do have their own language," he explained. Ackovic pointed out that there are eight museums of Roma culture worldwide and that the Belgrade institution is the only one is south-eastern Europe. All the books and texts, including eight Bibles in the Roma language, can be read on ten computers, while the original copies of the books will be exhibited next to them.
