We no longer talk of protection, but of defense of Bulgarian border: Boyko Noev

Europe is aware that the border between Bulgaria and Turkey is hardly controllable, and has concentrated its forces on Serbia’s border, former defense minister Boyko Noev said in an interview for the Bulgarian National Radio. “We should no longer protect the European border this way, because migration pressure will grow”, he argued. The migration flow grows with 1000 persons a month because borders with Serbia and Romania are practically sealed, he added. “For Bulgaria solidarity in EU is of vital importance for its security at a moment when two empires are trying to restore their glamour from the times of the Soviet Union and of the Ottoman Empire”, Boyko Noev contended. He shared his concern over the fact that the state budget for 2017 had not even a single euro allocated to border protection, and voiced hopes that the new president as a professional military man would address all those burning issues.
