Bulgaria’s power engineering system is absolutely stable, Bulgaria’s outgoing Minister of Energy Temenuzhka Petkova announced on Tuesday in response to the statement of the Bulgarian Socialist Party that Bulgaria’s power system was at risk and that power cuts were possible in that country in the future. I would like to assure you that the Bulgarian power engineering is well managed and the system guarantees regular and secure supply of electricity, Minister Petkova added. She reminded that January has been the coldest month in the past 20 years. As a result, electricity consumption hit record-high levels. However, we managed to deal with that difficult situation, Temenuzhka Petkova commented. Minister Petkova added that Bulgaria has not imported electricity. The Electricity System Operator has requested emergency assistance from neighboring countries under an agreement signed between the Bulgarian  Electricity System Operator and the Electricity System Operators of Bulgaria’s neighbors.
