Prime Minister Borissov: increasing contribution to EU budget would be beneficial to Bulgaria

It would be more profitable for Bulgaria to increase its contribution to the EU budget, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov told reporters in Brussels where he attended the informal European Council meeting.

The budget of the community is one of the topics of the meeting. Bulgaria is among the net recipients as for each euro it gives to the EU budget, the country gets back three euros.

The topic of the re-assessment of contributions was placed on the agenda by EU institutions following Brexit and what is seen as a budget shortage of 10 billion euros, BTA reported.
