Bulgaria and Ukraine resume work of intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation

The Deputy Prime Ministers of Bulgaria and Ukraine Mariyana Nikolova and Stepan Kubiv reached agreement to resume the work of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation which has not sat in nine years.

Stepan Kubiv proposed the discussion of issues from the economic, tariff, military and educational sphere, the decentralization of Ukraine and contacts between Bulgarian municipality and the municipalities of Odessa, Nikolayev and Zaporizhzhya districts.

Mariyana Nikolova expressed Sofia’s expectations that Bolhrad region will be preserved within the now existing administrative boundaries and that clear rules will be introduced on the study of the Bulgarian language at state schools in Ukraine.
