The International Summer Festival "Varna Summer" – one of the largest theatrical events in this country, starts. It takes place every year in the period June 1 – June11 in the framework of the Varna Summer Festival of Arts. Its main goal is to present the trends in Bulgarian and international stage practice and to create a space for intercultural dialogue and exchange. The program has been built as a mosaic of modules. The international selection presents a variety of stage styles and leading trends from Europe and the world. The Showcase program focuses on innovative productions from contemporary theater, dance and performance arts. There is also a parallel program including discussions, workshops, exhibitions, concerts, etc. This year, the Bulgarian program of the Varna Summer Festival shows 10 performances that received critical acclaim last season. The forum focuses on the 90th anniversary of the birth of Yordan Radichkov – Bulgarian writer and playwright, who has made an outstanding contribution to the national theater. The plays by Radichkov are included in the program.
