Bulgaria will continue to be part of the United Nations’ efforts to strengthen international solidarity for achieving a sustainable global approach and prevention aimed at protection of human rights. This was what Bulgarian President Rumen Radev said in Geneva in his address to the UN Human Rights Council.

In 2019 Bulgaria became a full member of the Council for the period until 2021. This happens for the first time since the establishment of the international body. Protection of human rights cannot be ensured without lasting peace and sustainable development, President Radev pointed out. The President reaffirmed Bulgaria's commitment to conduct national policies in the field of human rights protection, as well as to participate in regional and international bodies such as the Council, in order to achieve this UN high-priority goal.
