Launch of national summer anti-AIDS campaign in Bulgaria

A national summer anti-AIDS campaign is taking place in Bulgaria as of today until 15 September.

177,560 people have taken HIV tests in Bulgaria in the period from January until the end of June, 2019, 147 are the new HIV diagnoses, the health authorities say.

A total of 3,173 people have been registered in Bulgaria as HIV positive since 1986. In 2017 the average rate of new HIV diagnoses per 100,000 population for the countries of the EU was 6.2. In Bulgaria this index was 3.4.
