New Greek Foreign Minister Nikolaos Dendias visits Bulgaria

Athens supports Bulgaria’s accession to Schengen, said Greece’s Foreign Minister Nikolaos Dendias at a meeting in Sofia with his Bulgarian counterpart Ekaterina Zaharieva.  

The two stated their support for the enlargement of the EU in the Western Balkans, and stressed the need to observe the agreements already reached with the candidate countries. Greece is a strategic partner and the quadrilateral format – Bulgaria, Greece, Romania and Serbia – is working very well, stressed Prime Minister Boyko Borissov during a meeting with Minister Nikolaos Dendias. Boyko Borissov called for speeding up the construction of the gas interconnector between Bulgaria and Greece which has been provided for financially. The Bulgarian prime minister also discussed other bilateral economic projects with the Greek foreign minister.
