President Rumen Radev discussed with the Prime Minister of Vietnam Nguyen Xuan Phuc, in Tokyo, ways to boost bilateral economic, trade and investment exchange.

The two agreed that trade between Bulgaria and Vietnam which currently amounts to around USD 100 million does not live up to the potential of the two countries. Spheres such as defence, weapons and technology repair, military education were highlighted as particularly promising. The Prime Minister of Vietnam stated that as chairman of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations ASEAN, in 2020 Vietnam will work towards extending Bulgaria’s ties and economic partnership with that organization.
