Prime Minister Boyko Borissov has met with Bulgarian sumo wrestler Kaloyan Mahlyanov - Kotooshu. "Sumo is an imperial sport, the most popular in Japan, and Kotooshu is an ambassador of this country and the European Union. We are proud that there are people like him who bring glory to this country," the prime minister said.
Kotooshu is the first Bulgarian to be accepted in 2002 for training at a sumo vocational school in Tokyo. For a long time he competed in the elite division of the professional sumo "Makuuchi", and in January 2006 received the Ozeki rank. He won the Emperor's Cup and became the first European to win this trophy. Currently, the most famous Bulgarian sumo wrestler is developing his own Naruto Beya wrestling school in Japan.
