At the Green Week 2020 exposition in Berlin Bulgaria is laying an emphasis on organic products. There are 6,000 certified organic producers in Bulgaria, mostly SMEs.

To us they are a priority, Agriculture Minister Desislava Taneva said. The EU allocated EUR 40 million for them. How to implement organic farming applying environmentally friendly cultivation methods is a challenge the world is faced with. The debate we are conducting in Bulgaria is how to produce wheat and other cereals and protect the environment, the soil and the waters at the same time, Minister Taneva said.

The minister’s team has set itself the deadline of 2021 for sending its proposals for the attainment of the environmental goals to the European Commission.
