President Rumen Radev and Defense Minister Krasimir Karakachanov attended the inauguration ceremony of Georgi Benkovski Air Force School in the town of Dolna Metropolia (Central Bulgaria). It is a moral act to restore the proud Bulgarian aviation spirit and dignity, an act that we owed to our century-old aviation, to generations of instructors, pilots and specialists, to our teachers, said President Radev, who is a graduate of the same school. Today, we are correcting an injustice, said Minister Karakachanov, and called the decision from 2002 to transform the school into a military faculty as short-sighted.In addition to training in military and civilian specialties, the Air Force school will also have its sergeants college reopened.
The Air Force School reopens as an independent training institution after a break of 18 years. It is the only aviation school in Bulgaria as it offers training for both military and civil aviation specialists.
