Supreme Court rejects registration of new political party

Bulgaria's Supreme Court of Cassation upheld the refusal of the Sofia City Court to enter the party of the popular TV showman Slavi Trifonov called "Nyama takava darzjava" (There's no such state) in the register of political parties. The refusal is due to the use in the symbol of the party - the palm of a human hand in blue, of the colours of the Bulgarian flag - white, green, red, because the Political Parties Act does not allow the use of the national flag and emblem in the symbols of political parties. The court's ruling states that, in case all legal requirements are complied with, the application for registration may be renewed.
According to a November 2019 poll, though unregistered, the party is already supported by 5.1% of voters, which places it in fourth place in popularity in the country.
