Seven municipalities in Bulgaria surpass the capital Sofia in terms of the average wage, a study of the Institute for Market Economics shows. Although Sofia is the country's undoubted economic leader, the average salary in the capital is 795 euros, while in the municipality of Kozloduy it is 1068 euros, in Radnevo 976 euros, in Pirdop - 916 euros, in Devnya - 857 euros, in Galabovo - 817 euros and in Suvorovo - 806 euros. These are small municipalities where energy generation and processing plants and mines are concentrated, which are structure-determining for the country's industrial sector. The difference between the municipalities in the amount of average salaries is 4 times. At the bottom of the ranking are the municipalities of Kovachevtsi and Kocherinovo, respectively, with an average salary of EUR 248.

27 municipalities have unemployment below 4% and in Sofia it is below 2%. The capital is also the hub with the largest number of enterprises in the country, exceeding 120,000.
