Cyprus is an important economic and trade partner of Bulgaria, Bulgarian President Rumen Radev said at the opening of the Bulgaria – Cyprus Business Forum in Sofia. Cyprus has been ranked 34th in the Bulgarian imports and exports chart. Nicosia remains one of the largest investors in Bulgaria with over € 2 billion in investment.

Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades said there were untapped opportunities for co-operation in the spheres of energy, trade shipping, education and innovation. The guest thanked Bulgarian Parliament Speaker Tsveta Karayancheva for the help Bulgaria provided in the aftermath of the tragic events in 1974, by providing work and education to hundreds of Cypriots.
