A national folklore festival is taking place in Avramovo – the highest-altitude railway station in the Balkans.

The festival kicked off at midday, when the main trainsets arrive from Septemvri and Dobrinishte along the narrow-gauge track. The organizers from the civic association “For the narrow-gauge line” say there will be surprises throughout the day. The aim of the festival is to preserve, popularize and develop the narrow-gauge train line as a local necessity and a national cultural treasure.

Two mountains – the Rhodopes and Rila – converge next to Avramovo railway station.
