Destroyer "USS Roosevelt" in service with the United States Navy is on an unofficial visit to Varna. The ship's commander is CDR Ryan Kendall. Due to the epidemic situation with Covid-19, the crew of the ship do not leave the vessel.

On September 20, after leaving the Port of Varna, destroyer "Roosevelt" together with the frigate "Smeli" and the corvette "Bodri" of the Bulgarian Navy conduct an exercise of the PASSEX type. The aim of the exercise is to increase interoperability of naval units of NATO member states, to improve mutual understanding and interoperability and to boost up training of crews at sea. The Ministry of Defense informs that two exercises of this type have been held since the beginning of the year, BGNES reports.
