Bulgaria reports 255 new Covid-19 cases, active cases at 4,907
5% of the 5,047 PCR tests performed in the last 24 hours have returned positive, data of the National Information Portal shows. A total of 255 newly infected persons have been registered.
In the past 24 hours, there have been 4 new deaths. 119 persons were cured, and 782 remain in hospital - 36 of them in intensive care units.
The active cases are currently 4,907. The number of infections in Bulgaria since the start of the pandemic has reached 19,828.
Prime Minister Boyko Borissov ordered the resumption of weekly briefings of the National Operational Headquarters on the epidemic situation in the country. At a meeting between the Prime Minister and the Headquarters, the Minister of Health Kostadin Angelov assured that the development of the epidemic was under control.

Coronavirus outbreak in German slaughterhouse with Bulgarian and Hungarian workers
A meat processing factory, which mainly employs Bulgarian and Hungarian workers, has become a hotspot for a coronavirus outbreak in Germany, local media reported. The slaughterhouse is located in the town of Emsdetten. The Bulgarian Consulate in Frankfurt still has no information on the case.
In June, Bulgarian workers became infected with Covid-19 en masse at a slaughterhouse in North Rhine-Westphalia.

Pulmonologist predicts increased spread of coronavirus in schools
"Schools will not become a hotbed of Covid-19, but a place for its spread," pulmonologist Dr. Alexander Simidchiev told BNT. According to him, the students will not be so ill as to have to be hospitalized, but the spread of the infection will increase.
"I do not foresee big problems with the students, but rather with the teachers," the specialist stressed. He also said that the highs and lows in the spread of the virus were not due to external factors, but to whether people were taking precautions.
"When people start burning wood and coal stoves, the increase in fine dust particles will predispose them to more frequent illnesses from all kinds of infections, including coronavirus," the pulmonologist predicts.

Education Minister says there will be no more flu vacations
"Students will no longer go on flu vacations and, if necessary, will study remotely," Bulgaria's Education Minister Krasimir Valchev told Nova TV. Regarding the coronavirus, he added that the negative scenarios were coming true and the situation would be complicated by the approaching cold weather and the appearance of influenza viruses.
Currently, there are no excessive numbers of infections in schools compared to the total number of people infected with Covid-19, it became clear from the words of the Minister.
"0.4% of the classes are quarantined, but even if they reach 4%, there will be enough children in the classrooms," he said. Krasimir Valchev also said that if there would be a boom of infections in a municipality or district, then it would move entirely to training in an electronic environment.
