Sofia will test for the first time in Europe an innovative practice for "green public transport on demand". Instead of moving on predetermined routes, new electric buses will create a route map based on citizens’ searches submitted via a mobile application.
The app will use artificial intelligence to improve data analysis to create the most efficient route for each trip, gathering as many passengers as possible. The project, which will run over three years, is expected to begin this fall.
