Bulgaria wants EU-North Macedonia accession talks more than Germany

The only country that wants to see the start of the EU-North Macedonia accession talks even more than Germany is Bulgaria. But I was very surprised that a European Parliament resolution on Bulgaria found a Macedonian minority in the country, Bulgaria’s Premier Boyko Borissov said for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung.

“After World War 2, the Bulgarian communists and Stalin’s Moscow wanted to turn the Bulgarians in Macedonia into Macedonians for ideological reasons. If there are false allegations in the EU accession process and I do not react, my political opponents will say: Borissov is selling Bulgarian history an succumbing to pressure from the European partners”, Premier Borissov clarified.
