Bulgaria’s Lubomir Kalchev has won a silver and bronze medal at the European Short Track Speed Skating Cup in Hungary. His coach is two-time Olympic runner-up Evgenia Radanova.

The young athlete discovered the Olympic sport by chance when he was only in second grade and wanted to learn to skate. Until then, ice sports for him were limited to hockey and figure skating. He won his first championship medals only 3 years after he started training. In October 2021, Kalchev won a gold medal in the Junior category at the European Challenge Short Track Speed Skating Cup in Poland. A few days ago, he won silver and bronze at the European Short Track Speed Skating Cup in the Hungarian capital Budapest.

Two serious challenges await Lubomir Kalchev in March - the World Youth Championship in Poland and the World Championship for men and women in Montreal (Canada). We wish him success!
