More than 11,000 new Covid cases registered in Bulgaria for a day

For a second day in a row, a record number of newly infected people was registered in Bulgaria - 11,181, which is 1,185 more than yesterday, according to data of the Coronavirus Information Portal.

The percentage of positive samples has been also growing - 24.3 out of 45,956 tests. The number of active cases has also reached a record high - 170,095.

78% of the newly infected are non-vaccinated citizens. Most of the new cases are in Sofia – 3,320, in Plovdiv – 1,348, and in Burgas - 878. There are 5,259 patients in hospital - 554 of them in intensive care units. Over 84% of the 660 newly-admitted hospital patients are non-vaccinated. 91 people died in the past day - 92% of them were not immunized, while the daily recoveries reached 1,756. Yesterday, 18,990 doses of coronavirus vaccine were administered. 1,967,200 people have already completed the immunization cycle. 527,042 have also had a booster dose.
