Technologies for soil carbon storage successfully implemented in Bulgarian agriculture

Technologies for absorption of carbon into the soil have been successfully implemented in the cultivation of cereals and industrial crops in Bulgaria. According to Deputy Minister of Agriculture Momchil Nekov, who participates in The Global Forum for Food and Agriculture, these technologies protect soil from erosion, water from pollution, improve biodiversity and biological activity. In his speech at the forum, Deputy Minister Nekov pointed out that the absorption of carbon and its storage in the soil is achieved through good agricultural practices adapted to Bulgarian soils. According to him, the transition period from conventional methods to the new technology is not short and takes about 5 years. In addition, training and partial replacement of equipment are needed. Therefore, according to the Deputy. Minister, financial assistance that would help farmers switch to these methods, was of great importance
