Fifth unit of Kozloduy NPP disconnected from the country's energy system

At 6:05 am on June 22, the fifth unit of Kozloduy Nuclear power plant was disconnected from the country's energy system due to malfunction of the generator excitation system and the activation of electrical protection in the conventional part of the power plant, the press centre of Kozloduy NPP said.

All systems of the nuclear unit were activated in accordance with design algorithms. The Bulgarian Nuclear Regulatory Agency was immediately notified of the incident. No changes in the radioactive situation have been observed in the area. Unit 5 of Kozloduy NPP was connected to the country's power system at the end of May after scheduled annual maintenance.
