"On behalf of our coalition government, I am handing the power over to you! Contrary to implications, there is no reason to expect an apocalypse in Bulgaria", former Premier Kiril Petkov said at a special ceremony at which he handed the power to the caretaker cabinet headed by Prime Minister Galab Donev. Kiril Petkov noted that despite the global crisis, his cabinet has built a strong foundation to secure peace and predictability in the coming months. The outgoing government leaves a budget surplus of BGN 1.5 billion. Kiril Petkov expressed hope that the fight against corruption and problems in the country's judiciary will continue.

Bulgaria’s caretaker Premier Galab Donev outlined the most urgent tasks facing the new cabinet - the prices of natural gas and fuels, high inflation, the problems regarding the maintenance of the country's roads and the protest of road construction companies. "We have months of political excitement ahead of us. Our task is to restore productive dialogue", Galab Donev pointed out.
