People aged 40 to 65 are the most active readers in Bulgaria. One in five Bulgarians has not read a single book during the year, indicates a national survey on reading attitudes among Bulgarian citizens conducted by the Bulgarian Book Association.

Twenty whole percent of the respondents say they have not read a single book in the past year, many of them do not have a single book at home,” she says, and adds that there is one hopeful sign – that 83% of the respondents who are parents say they read to their children.
