Tons of silt and waste have been removed from the four Simeonovo lakes, which turned this area at the foot of Vitosha Mountain into a pleasant place for relaxation and coolness in the height of summer. One of the symbols of the capital's Simeonovo district, the lakes were cleaned by the municipal foundation "Sofia - European Capital of Sports" and the management of the Vitosha Nature Park, Mayor Yordanka Fandakova announced.
Known as the "eyes of Vitosha", the man-made reservoirs reflect the sun's rays and the leafy trees around them. The route to them is easy, it starts from the centre of Simeonovo district and lasts about 40 minutes, with the altitude at the end of it being 1,045 meters.
